Day 21: Drummond Island to Mackinac Island, MI

A 60 mile run to Mackinac Island, I never get tired of going to Mackinac, the grand hotel, the horse's , the bugey's, It feels like you are going back 200 years.

It was a chilly ride over. We had a 15 to 20 knots wind, 3.5’ waves and as usual the Greatest Loop skimmed over the waves comfortably. Having owned a few trawlers I expect slow, however fast is nice particularly if you are going to Mackinac. Also, in this hull capable of over 20 mph moderate waves such as we experienced on this day are not uncomfortable due to the tight chop and the speed to ride on top of the waves. Also it is a great feeling to be able to get up and run after dealing with a 6mph speed limit on The Trent.

We had several people interested in looking at "the Greatest Loop". The profile and the paint job draw the crowds initially. When they come aboard the boat, the conversation turns to how the boat handled, how comfortable it is to live aboard, how much fuel it takes and how much it costs.

Best,
